This is really happening! SouthBmore.com and The Baltimore Sun have reported that street sweeping will begin next month, and the schedule has been confirmed in this Baltimore City Department of Public Works press release! As depicted, Riverside is a part of the Southwest quadrant, so our streets’ odd sides will be swept on the 3rd Wednesday of the month, and even sides on the 4th Wednesday.
If you think this is as awesome as we do, we’re going to need to work as a neighborhood to ensure that our cars are not parked on the sides of the streets to be swept. The city will not be posting signs and no tickets will be written for cars parked where the sweepers are scheduled to do their work. It really is up to us to make the most of this resource. Right now, the sweeping window is wide open from 8am-4pm, but over time, we should be able to narrow the window of time for Riverside. It’s important that you get to know this schedule so you can make sure to move your car if you are home during the day on those Wednesdays. If you use Google Calendar, consider adding RNA’s calendar to your own so that you can be reminded of the sweepings and other RNA activities.
