30 Horses For Your Birthdaycarousel birthdays

Nothing says fun quite like a carousel, and nothing says being a kid like riding the “horsies” as much as you like.  On October 5, Charm City Carousel hosted their first children’s birthday.

“We already host birthdays at the other three carousels we operate on the Eastern Seaboard, so it was only natural that we would bring them to Baltimore too,” said Mark Rosenzweig, Vice President of Charm City Carousel.  “Childhood birthdays are some of those memories you hold onto for a lifetime, and our goal is to ensure that every child that spends their special day here has a great time,” he noted.

The parents who hosted the first birthday party at the carousel, Tom and Heidi Geyer, said, “Ava Lee said her 3rd birthday was magical at the carousel! It was fun for the toddlers as well as the adults! [It was] Well organized by the staff and literally stress free! I highly recommend the carousel for birthday parties. Priced right, pizza can be delivered, kids entertained, friendly and helpful staff, great ambience, tables and chairs provided with covered area, clean up was easy, parents and children’s dreams united at Charm City Carousel! Cheers to next year’s birthday party. We are coming back and with our army of toddler friends!”

The cost for one party is $249.  This provides the birthday child and 15 invited guests 2 hours of unlimited rides on the carousel and a private seating area adjacent to the ride.  Families are welcome to bring any outside cake, drinks, plates, cups, etc., to the site for their use.

“It has been a good first few months,” said Rosenzweig.  “We had a lot of support from the local communities, especially families in Federal Hill, Otterbein, Riverside and Locust Point.  Our goal next year is to work to bring tourists down to our side of the harbor.  We have found that many do not go past the Baltimore Visitor’s Center and we are looking at ways to change that.  In addition, we plan to be adding some food and beverage offerings to the site so families that stop by on a hot summer’s day can get some refreshment.  We did want to thank the city and Waterfront Partnership, as they worked together to ring the ride with benches for parents and grandparents in the fall.”

Charm City Carousel will be winterized until the spring of 2014, when it will reopen for weekends in April.
